A committee of community partners populated, built, and will help disseminate information on home care, health, financial giving, transportation, and other materials of benefit to older adults living in Summit County. AARP Ohio will provide speaker John Mastrojohn III, of the AARP Policy Institute and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
The afternoon sessions feature analysis of hospice and palliative care. The impact on caregivers and the challenges they face will be the focus. David Hassler of the nationally renowned Wick Poetry Center of Kent State University will teach caregivers innovative and proven methods for helping clients or family members find comfort during their end-of-life journeys. This will give guardians, social workers and care-team members’ self-care skills to identify and prevent compassion fatigue and burnout.
