Home / Resources / Service Providers / Becoming a Provider Becoming a Provider Prospective providers are required to be an agency that currently operates in the community and is delivering services to consumers in their home settings. Direction Home Akron Canton cannot supply the referrals and/or consumers for start-up companies. Prospective providers must have documentation demonstrating their compliance with elements of the rules and regulations for each program be compliant with these regulations at the point of PASSPORT or Assisted Living Waiver application. The prospective provider must have documentation demonstrating their compliance with the elements of each rule, and this will be verified by Direction Home Akron Canton's Quality Improvement (QI) staff through an in-person visit to the prospective provider's office/facility. The rules and regulations are different for all programs, so it is imperative the prospective provider familiarize itself with the regulations before submitting an application to become a provider. To apply to become a PASSPORT or Assisted Living provider, prospective providers must complete the online application. MyCare Ohio MyCare Ohio is Ohio's Integrated Care Delivery System (ICDS) - a system of managed care plans designed to coordinate physical, behavioral, and long-term care services for individuals over the age of 18 who are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare. This includes people with disabilities, older adults and individuals who receive behavioral health services. The program is administered by the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM). The managed care organizations for the East Central Region (Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties) include CareSource and UnitedHealthcare. Preparing for a Pre-Cert Visit Once you have completed the application package through ODA and they have contacted Direction Home Akron Canton with the approval to move forward with your application, a QI staff member will contact your office to schedule a pre-certification visit at your office. During this visit, there will be a review your policies, procedures, personnel records, patient/client/resident records, and any other relevant documentation to verify your compliance with the ODA regulations. All relevant documentation should be available for review at the time of the visit. This visit typically takes 2-4 hours.
