This workshop will identify and explore the 10 cowboy ethics. The 10 types of cowboy ethics will be analyzed as they relate to counselors and social workers. Hollywood films will be used to analyze each cowboy ethic and discussions will occur as to how that ethic principal is transferred to counseling and social work ethics, practice, and standards.

Objectives:

  • Identify how cowboy code of ethics can be utilized in social service fields as they relate to the virtue ethics
  • Define the key points of the cowboy code of ethics and analysis how these code of ethics can transfer to social work and counseling fields
  • Utilize Hollywood films to understand cow boy ethics and discus ethical dilemmas as they relate to cowboys, counselors, and social workers

About the Speaker:  Linda Davis, PhD, LPC, LSW

Dr. Davis worked for Summit County Children's Services for 30 years.  During that time, she worked as in Intake worker, a Night Intake supervisor, a Crisis Intake Hotline Supervisor, Educational Resources Supervisor, Visitation Supervisor, and a Quality Improvement Manager. Dr. Davis, having successfully completed a two-year Ohio Child Welfare training, the Trainer Certificate Program, now spends her time as an independent trainer and consultant. Her areas of expertise currently include mental health counseling, visitation, attachment theory, child development, research, supervision, foster care, and assessment. Dr. Davis teaches seminars at Cleveland State and has also led classes on the Psychology of Learning, Child Development, Teaching and Learning Strategies, and Research at the University of Akron.  She infuses each of her sessions with knowledge, humor, and lots of tchotchkes.

REGISTRATION & CANCELLATION INFORMATION:

Class sizes are limited, so register early.  Classes with low registrations may be canceled.  If the class is canceled or moved, participants will be contacted via email at least 24 hours in advance.

Classes start and end on time.  To ensure a quality experience for all, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class start time and find a seat.  CEU credits will be adjusted 0.25 credit hours for every 15 minutes not in attendance; adjusted certificates will be emailed to participants within 3 business days after the training.  Hard copies of certificates will be mailed upon request.

It is difficult to control room temperature to everyone's comfort level.  We suggest you dress in layers that can be adaptable to warm and cool temperatures.

For auditing purposes, arrival and departure times and signature are required on attendance sheets.
