Direction Home Aging and Disabilities (DHAD) administers the Ohio Department of Aging programs that support older Ohioans in their own home, helping them to maintain their independence safely well into their older years. As an Agency providing supportive services to over 7,000 older adult residents in our local region, we have a waiting list of more than 500 consumers in need of home care assistance, assistance they can't get due to the lack of workers. The service provider agencies in our local region providing that assistance need YOU!

Our provider network of 100+ home care agencies and assisted living facilities are hiring caregivers. By joining this effort, you are not only helping so many Ohioans remain in a place they want to call home, but you are making a difference in your community and gaining personal satisfaction. FAQs

Will I be a Direction Home Akron Canton Employee?	We are working to connect aspiring professionals with our network of providers. Different providers have different openings, with qualifications and pay varying from provider to provider. While Direction Home is referring applicants to different providers, the Agency would not be the place of employment.
What happens when I call?	Tell the operator that you are interested in becoming a home health aide or to be connected to employment opportunities and they’ll take care of the rest!
Are there any sign on or other bonuses available?	Any incentives will be provider-dependent.
What does “flexible training” mean?	The length, requirements, and training topics/programs will vary between providers. We’ll work with you to determine what fits best for your situation.
What is the exact pay scale?	This will vary between providers, but it is flexible and there are career path opportunities that could reach up to $68,000/year.
What are the hours like?	This will vary between providers, but they are flexible for both part-time and full-time work.
Do I need a certain level of education or to pass a background check?	The minimum requirements will vary between providers and training programs. We’ll work with you to determine what fits best for your situation.
Do I need to have hands-on or clinical experience?	No prior hands-on or clinical experience is required for the providers that offer their own training programs.
What licensures can I obtain with this job? Where can I advance to?	You will be able to qualify as a PASSPORT direct care worker with opportunities to progress to an STNA (specific training required), or even LPN or RN (specific training and credentialing required).
