Direction Home Aging and Disabilities Begins Construction on New Headquarters

To better position the organization for continued growth, Direction Home is pleased to announce that construction has begun on a 35,000 square foot building in Uniontown to serve as a future home office. Direction Home quickly outgrew their current headquarters after expanding from 100 employees to over 240, and this new location will act as the central hub for their network of service providers whose reach expands to Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne Counties.

The building is projected to open in late summer of 2023 and will include a large conference center with room for 200 people to attend events and trainings.

“We are extremely excited and pleased to announce the groundbreaking for our new building,” states President and CEO Gary Cook. “The need for this expansion is a reflection of the growing need for aging services in our communities. We will continue to be located in the City of Green and Summit County, as we have for the last 30 years. This location is a perfect blend of a central location for our four-county service area (Summit, Stark, Portage, and Wayne), easy access to partners such as Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Summa Health Systems facilities, Aultman, and Mercy hospitals, and a welcoming and progressive city. This new headquarters will serve as a hub of age friendly activity for our region, and will allow us to further integrate into the communities we serve.”

Direction Home recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the start of construction. Attendees included Gerard Neugebauer, Mayor of Green, a representative from Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro’s office, and many community partners.
