Direction Home Opens New Office, Links Four Counties to Aging Services and Community Connections
For nearly 50 years Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities has been serving Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties. As staff numbers expanded to meet the needs of a growing older adult population, Direction Home outgrew its prior headquarters at 1550 Corporate Woods Parkway (Uniontown).
Direction Home staff population has increased 14% since 2019. It quickly became apparent that a hybrid work from home structure would occupy less office space per person, yet a more sustainable solution was needed to address demand for more space for community meetings. Direction Home moved forward with planned construction of a new office building in 2022 to address the desire for meeting space, and to provide a home base for staff featuring ample parking in a central location within the Direction Home four-county service area.
Direction Home was able to relocate to its new facility at 1949 Town Park Boulevard in Green, Ohio in January 2024 after several years of anticipation and 18 months of construction. “This has been in the works a long time for our Agency, and we are excited to have this space to provide our staff and the community with a place for collaboration and engagement” said Abigail Morgan, President and CEO.
