Every year, Direction Home Akron Canton honors those who represent what is best in our community. The Senior Hall of Fame, the Home Health Aide Hall of Fame, the Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities Harvey L. Sterns Lifetime Achievement Award, the Joseph L. Ruby Student Scholarship Award, and the Volunteer Ombudsman of Distinction Award are presented to recipients to acknowledge their accomplishments and efforts to support older adults and individuals with disabilities. The Awards Ceremony is held every year and is attended by friends, family, and loved ones of those being honored, as well as community leaders and professionals.
This year, like so many others, determination, passion, talent, and selflessness shines through in our community. However, this past year has also been unique. Senior citizens and home health aides have been facing adversity throughout a global pandemic full of uncertainty. Help us honor those who worked tirelessly, volunteered their time and efforts, sacrificed something for others, and those who deserve some additional recognition for all that they do. While our Awards Ceremony will be virtual again in 2021 with your safety in mind, the sentiment is still as strong as it was in 2019. We can't wait to celebrate the accomplishments and acts of service from your nominees with you again on Zoom this year (Register in advance here).
