Direction Home Akron Canton will be conducting the following open forum to write and review the Area Plan and Older Americans Act Funding Waivers. The goal of these open forums is to obtain public feedback on allocation recommendations.
Recommended Waivers and Amounts:
April 14, 2026
Direction Home will be applying for waivers to provide TIII D and TIII E services due to gaps in service as well as service areas within current provider requests.
- TIII D, Direction Home will allocate $36,321 to provider applicants and will apply for a waiver for in the amount of $40,000 to continue to provide Bingocize in Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne, Tai Chi in Wayne County, and to continue to subcontract with various providers who serve as host sites for the program across our 4 county region.
- For TIII E, Direction Home will allocate $15,624 to provider applicants and will apply for a waiver for TIII E program in the amount of $169,959 to continue to provide Caregiver Education in Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne, provide Caregiver Support in Stark and Wayne, supplement Caregiver Support in Summit and Portage and supplement Caregiver Counseling in Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne Counties.
