Our work relationships impact job satisfaction and success as much as our job skills. As a result, respectful, civil communication is key to long term professional, workplace, and client/patient success.  Learn what communication etiquette means, why it’s fundamental for success, and how it contributes to productive work environments that support patient care. Identify key myths and  practices that prevent respectful communication, along with the goals, strategies, and styles of thriving work environments.

Objectives:

  • Identify and assess individual approaches to workplace respect and etiquette as a healthcare professional/social service provider.  Identify patterns, strengths, and workplace challenges.
  • Learn what respect and etiquette mean, and how they  impact workplace performance, attitudes, and relationships.
  • Identify the various myths and causes of incivility and disrespect in the workplace, how they are supported, and how they impact client/patient relationships.
  • Learn the goals, strategies, and skills of respectful communicators.  Experience tips and techniques that enable providers to skillfully approach and support the workplace as well as those that they provide for.
