Subject:               Seeking public comment concerning Older Americans Act Title III-D Evidence-Based Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Programs in Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties.

Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging & Disability is a nonprofit organization and state-designated area agency on aging serving a four-county planning and service area (Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne). Direction Home Akron Canton helps older adults and people with disabilities thrive in the places they want to call home.  Direction Home Akron Canton intends to seek a direct service waiver from the Ohio Department of Aging so that it may continue to directly provide Older Americans Act Title III-D funded Evidence-Based Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Programs such as our Tai Chi falls prevention program in addition to contracting with two service providers to ensure an adequate supply of such services, as the services can be provided more economically and with comparable quality. The direct service waiver requested for Older Americans Act Title III-D funded programs is in the amount of $88,125.

This notice is seeking public comment from individuals including, but not limited to, consumers and providers who may want to provide feedback and/or ask questions about the Title III-D Evidence-Based Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Programs or the direct service waiver being requested through the Ohio Department of Aging.

The deadline for submitting comments and questions is March 3 at 12 midnight, eastern.  Comments and questions may be submitted via mail or email by the deadline above to:
